Michigan hiring Dusty May, according to reports

Dusty May has accepted the coaching position at Michigan, according to reports. May previously spent the last six seasons at Florida Atlantic, leading the program to the 2023 Final Four and first round of the NCAA Tournament this season.

In 2018, May took over a Florida Atlantic program with minimal success and one NCAA Tournament appearance in its history. May has excelled, posting winning seasons in all six of his seasons. He guided Florida Atlantic to the Final Four last season. Despite returning their core from last year, the Owls struggled to duplicate that success this season, losing in the tournament’s first round on Friday.

Although Michigan has struggled in recent seasons, it is a quality college basketball program with a passionate fanbase that wants to win a national championship.

Michigan recently fired Juwan Howard as its coach after five seasons. He posted an 8-24 record in 2023-24 and an 87–72 overall record. Michigan has missed the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons.

Who should replace Dusty May at Florida Atlantic? Here are three options that make a lot of sense.
